Erin Hardy
September 2026 Cohort
Hello! My name is Erin Hardy (she/her), and I am so grateful to be joining Couch of Hope as a counselling intern. I am currently completing my Master of Education in Counselling at Acadia University, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies from Acadia University as well. These areas of study have deeply impacted how I understand identity, behaviour, relationships, and the many social contexts that influence people’s lives and well-being across the lifespan.
I have worked in community-based care and social service settings for over ten years, supporting vulnerable people across different ages, abilities, and life circumstances. I have also worked in school and shelter environments, and these roles have all been invaluable in learning how mental health and wellness are connected to relationships, to community, and to the impacts of the larger systems people live within. My work has also shown me the incredible resilience that humans can have, and I have come to believe that people have a natural tendency toward growth and healing when they feel safe, supported and seen.
In counselling, my focus is on creating a warm and authentic therapeutic relationship where clients feel a deep sense of safety and acceptance for who they are. I bring a social justice lens to my work and care deeply about practicing with cultural humility. I am passionate about creating a counselling space that is inclusive and affirming of all people’s unique identities and stories. I believe that counselling works best when it acknowledges and honours the whole person, including their culture, relationships, resilience, strengths, and lived experience. I am especially interested in supporting people navigating trauma, anxiety, identity, chronic illness, neurodivergence, family and relationship challenges, and life transitions.
Outside of counselling, I enjoy being a parent and spending time with friends and family. I am a curious learner who loves reading, exploring new ideas, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally! I look forward to meeting clients with curiosity and respect as they explore what healing, self-understanding, and change can look like for them.
