Janice Bell

September 2026 Cohort

Hello! I’m glad you’re here.

My name is Janice Bell (she/her). I am a counselling intern completing a master’s degree in counselling psychology at Yorkville University. As a former client of Couch of H.O.P.E., I am grateful to be joining the team in this role and supporting members of my community. Before moving into counselling, I obtained a B.Sc. and worked as a geologist in Canada and the United States. This experience broadened my understanding of diverse perspectives and shaped how I approach each client with curiosity and openness.

My path to this work is shaped by both professional and personal experience. Having navigated grief, loss, and life transitions, I understand how disorienting and overwhelming these experiences can feel.

I believe in a collaborative and client-centred approach, with a focus on creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and supported. I aim to meet you where you are and honour your unique experiences. I see you as the expert in your own life and as someone capable of finding your way forward. Sometimes, having support can make that path feel more manageable.

Outside of counselling, I enjoy spending time outdoors, going on road trips, and staying active. These activities help me stay grounded and present in my work. I recognize that it takes courage to share, and I would welcome the opportunity to work together.
