Amber Leblanc
September 2026 Cohort
Hi, my name is Amber LeBlanc (She/ Her). Being born and raised here in Dartmouth Nova Scotia, I have a strong drive to give back to the community that once did so much for me. I am currently a counselling therapist intern completing my Master of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I hold a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Criminology which overall shaped my passion and understanding of human behaviour, life experiences, and the impact social and environmental factors can have on mental health and overall wellbeing.
I am deeply passionate about creating a space where clients feel in control of their experiences and understanding of the world, ensuring that everyone's thoughts, emotions, and feelings are at the forefront of each conversation. I truly believe that meaningful change only begins when the client feels truly seen, heard, and supported through each step of their journey.
My approach to counselling is grounded in a humanistic perspective, valuing authenticity, empathy, and a strong therapeutic relationship. Specific approaches I strive to integrate into practice include Brief Solution-Focused Therapy and Emotional Focused Therapy. These approaches tailor each session to the uniqueness of the client while recognizing the strengths of the client to ensure achievable and meaningful goals are met.
As an intern, I am committed to ongoing learning, growth, and reflective practice. It is a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate through challenges, building self-awareness, and moving towards an overall upward change in their lives.
