Claire Crocker
September 2026 Cohort
Hello! My name is Claire (she/her), and I am grateful to be completing my practicum with Couch of Hope as a Counselling Therapist Intern.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Dalhousie University and am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Alongside my studies, I have had the opportunity to work as a Recreation Programmer with the Canadian Mental Health Association, where I have seen firsthand the importance of connection, community, and creating spaces where people feel they belong. This experience deepened my understanding that healing often begins when individuals feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted.
I strive to create a therapeutic space that is warm, welcoming, and grounded in compassion. I believe every person deserves to feel respected, valued, and supported, and that access to mental health care should be approachable, inclusive, and available to all. My hope is to meet clients where they are, recognizing that each person's experiences, strengths, and journey are unique.
My approach to therapy is person-centred, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity, empathy, and respect. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, while tailoring each session to the client’s unique goals, strengths, and needs. I am also interested in working with couples and families, particularly around relational patterns, attachment, and communication, while also continuing to support individuals in their own therapeutic journey, including concerns such as anxiety, stress, self-esteem, and life transitions.
I look forward to meeting you and working together in a space that feels safe and supportive!
