Kim Dixon

September 2026 Cohort

Hello, my name is Kim, and I am a Counselling Therapist Intern at Couch of H.O.P.E. I am currently completing my practicum as part of the Master of Education in Counselling program at Acadia University. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University and a Master of Organizational Leadership from Royal Roads University.

I bring experience in leadership, education, and supporting families parenting children with complex needs. I spent over 10 years in post-secondary roles supporting student well-being, developing leaders, and helping young adults navigate identity, relationships, and life pressures. As a foster and adoptive parent, I’ve deepened my understanding of adverse childhood experiences, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and navigating complex systems, with a strong focus on advocacy for children and families.

I believe that belonging and being loved are central to the human experience. We are relational beings, shaped and strengthened through connection and supportive relationships. I use a collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to therapy, creating a space that feels safe, compassionate, and free of judgment. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, which I tailor to align with your goals, experiences, and unique life context

Life can feel overwhelming at times, but you do not have to navigate it alone. I would be grateful to listen and to walk alongside you toward healing and hope.
