Olivia Mackinnon

September 2026 Cohort

Welcome,

My name is Olivia MacKinnon (she/her), and I am a Counselling Therapist Intern at Couch of Hope. I am completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University, a certificate of Addiction Care and Treatment from the University of British Columbia, and various certificates in 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming care.

My goal is to create a supportive space where clients can feel seen, heard, and understood. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I will meet clients where they are, providing a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can talk about whatever feels most meaningful to them. My approach to counselling is strengths-based, client-centered, and anti-oppressive, rooted in intersectionality, accessibility, and client empowerment.

I use an integrated approach, informed by acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and humanistic therapy. I value the mind-body connection and helping clients deepen their understanding of themselves. I am passionate about helping clients who are navigating 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, addiction and substance abuse, neurodivergence, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and personal growth.

I am honoured to be a part of such meaningful work, and I look forward to connecting with you.
